A Pair of Italian Carved Alabaster ‘Stacked Book’ Bookends Italy, circa 1960–1975

A fine pair of bookends meticulously carved from Italian alabaster of varying honeyed tones and prominent grey-black veining. Each is naturalistically modeled as a graduated stack of four volumes, showing incised "spine" and "page" details. Both pieces retain their original gold foil manufacturer’s labels to the underside reading: Genuine Alabaster, Hand Carved, Made in Italy.

Condition Report: In good vintage condition. Commensurate with age and the soft nature of the medium, there is minor wear and scattered nocks\/flea-bites to the sharp edges and corners of the "books," particularly on the plinth bases. These do not detract from the structural integrity or display quality.
