A Large ‘Maitland Smith’ Tessellated Stone & Brass Art Deco Revival Table Stash Box

This impressive box in tessellated marble stone is beautifully crafted in a zigzag design picked out in brass inlay. The boxes cover has a gilt brass knob and opens to reveal a sandy velvet lined interior and base.
These Maitland Smith boxes were typically made by artisans in the Philippines in the 1970-1979 and are distinguishable by their superior quality and craftsmanship.
Identifying marks: This piece is attributed to the above-mentioned designer/maker. It has no label or mark but is recognised by attributes, literature and documentation of the designers output.
Condition: very good condition with minor wear to the gilded brass knob and scratches from and wear from light use and consistent with age.
